    Slant Six 6 build

Most of you guys know I have been messing around with a slant six in the Plymouth. And I am always hearing, why not put a big block in it? Well the answer is I have a love affair with that motor and I am stubborn, so I am not giving in yet. But this time is different. I have been collecting bolt on speed parts over the years and have had decent luck in keeping the car on the road. Long story short, after a long conversation with Rabbit to and from Torque Fest this past spring I decided to go for it and have the motor built professionally. So here goes the final build and it should be ready to roll this spring.

    Custom Automotive Machine Co
    Builder - Dana Hard
    Owner/Driver Camco Racing

    Block - 225cu in (70 dart) bored .060" over and decked .100"
Head - original head off the numbers matching 225cu in motor, decked .060" and stuffed with .085" intake and .090" exhaust oversized valve custom made by SI per Dana's specs. Hardened valve seats and seal seats cut to accept positive seals. The head was also ported in the runners but most of the material was removed in the bowls.
Cam - Crower custom grind (Rabbit found in Dixons sitting on the shelf for who knows how long) advertised 268 duration, 120 lope separation, .420" lift. Dixons matched the cam with Comp solid lifters and heavy valve springs. Dana made custom push rods to match.
Pistons - aluminum floating wrist pin on the stock rods, but resized and using King bearings
Crank - stock forged crank balanced and the rod journals were resized due to a spun bearing in the life of the crank

I don't have the final built sheet and parts list currently since I need to go pick up the motor soon as it is done. Once I have it I can post more information on internal parts used if anyone is interested. I believe we are sitting around 9.7-1 compression and around 232cu in. I have a feeling this is going to be a hateful little six. I hope so since Dana built it like it was his and he is currently building another motor for his vintage nitro car.

Those are the internals and then we started bolting on the parts I had acquired over the years.

    Offy aluminum 4 barrel intake
    Clifford 13" headers, split manifold
Holley 390 4 barrel with vacuum secondaries
    Mallory Unilite distributor

This will be coupled with a '76 A833 3+1 overdrive 4 speed transmission. If all goes well I will have that going to an 8 3/4" Chrysler rear end with LSD. That is the goal anyways.

Yea he took care of the oiling system. I dont know what was used at the moment. I let him take the reigns on the build. He spec'ed everything so I trust his decision. I'll ask when I pick it up, I still have more questions for him.
